Crime Duty Solicitors
Our client a reputable Cornish law firm seek to appoint 3 Crime Duty Solicitors to start in May 2010.
They must be available by 1st May 2010 to register in the relevant LSC Duty Solicitor rotas for 14th July 2010. These positions are not appropriate for trainees or legal executives.
A good salary is offered plus generous unsocial hours’ payments. The firm operates its own 24 hour rota and there are opportunities for Own Client / Panel unsocial hours work outside the LSC rota.
There is one additional requirement for an applicant to be considered. As a criminal duty solicitor is unlikely to justify their salary in this rural area on crime work alone they must bring to the firm a second discipline. This will be in family legal aid, general civil or Crown Court preparation. These are already established departments. Thus:-
Applicant 1
50% crime and 50% family legal aid work (some private). Family supervisor status required and a thorough knowledge of working in the fixed fee regime with referrals to mediation at the heart of managing the lower level fees cost effectively.
Applicant 2
50% crime and 50% civil. The civil is mixed with some CFA’s, CW1 Tolerance work in debt and employment and private clients.
Applicant 3
50% crime and 50% Crown Court preparation. We have a significant portfolio of ongoing serious crime across the spectrum including more rewarding POCA matters. Less serious trials and pleas are often dealt with by our own advocate with Higher Rights.
Applications are invited from a nationwide audience and will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
