Ideally you should have experience in a few of the following specialities:
- Mergers and acquisitions, property dealings, tax, employment, finance, protection of intellectual property, competition law.
- Be able to provide strategic legal advice on new products or services, financial offerings, financial structuring, securities offerings, compliance issues, nondisclosure agreements, strategic business planning, management buy-outs, offer and devise legal corporate risk-management, and structuring joint ventures.
- Be able to represent the client in legal proceedings/advocacy, advise counsel, and prepare legal pleadings, motions, discovery, stipulations, plan case options and the best way forward.
- Have some knowledge of employment relations, employee contracts, tax issues, patents, contracts of supply, new corporate start-ups, grants, advising clients on relevant law issues, research on applicable law and relevant compliance issues, drafting contracts and documents, good negotiating skills to achieve objectives, researching case history to maximise advocacy, advising clients regarding implementation of agreements and continuation of personal professional awareness and training.
You should show a great interest in marketing the firm to the local business community. Have prominent social networking abilities and be able to cross-promote all fee earning areas of the firm.
