Private Client Lawyer - Devon, Somerset, Cornwall

We are currently looking to fill a Private Client Law job vacancy with partner potential within a team covering Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

Salary £40 to £120k.

We have been appointed to find a very experienced Private Client Lawyer.  

Our client is a very successful law firm, with offices based throughout the West Country.  This position may lead to the possible opportunity to make partner, within a fixed time frame. 

Ideally we seek a lawyer with significant experience operating and mid-senior career level. Solid experience is required working for a law firm with a significant Private Client team.  Must be a team player, who is client friendly, proactive and hard working. 

Accomplished at planning strategy programmes for business development.  Sound experience and knowledge of Will drafting and inheritance tax planning, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, court protection and deputyship applications, issues affecting the elderly and trust law administration.

Specialisims: - IHT, CGT and other personal tax planning.  Lifetime settlements, Trust Law and administration including for disabled beneficiaries / personal injury compensation trusts and NHS continuing care claims.

Memberships: - STEP, Probate Section of the Law Society and Solicitors for the Elderly

The successful candidate will join a team that covers Cornwall, Somerset and Devon. There could be a definite opportunity for career progression to partner level, if required.

Family Lawyer – Panel Member – Partner Potential

Details of a family lawyer job vacancy, involving the position of Family Panel Member, and with Partner Potential.

4-10 years PQE. £30-50K plus bonus. £60-120K for a Partner.

The client, a dynamic Cornish law firm is looking to strengthen its family department with the appointment of a senior matrimonial lawyer.

Duties involve running your own wide-ranging large and complex caseload. Incorporating the full spectrum of family law matrimonial work including “Children’s Act 1989” cases and associated advocacy.

Administer all new and existing client files from initial instruction through to final completion. Take a proactive approach to obtaining new work and promoting/cross-marketing services of the department and firm to new clients. Marketing the firm when regularly attending social and business parties, PR events, press releases, and general adhoc meetings.

Additionally, write articles for the local press and inform the public and clients of new regulations and happenings in family law. Assist in managing the family department within the firm, including future strategies, recruitment and expansion plans. Client’s work is both private and publicly funded. The clients and their work varies greatly in description and content.

Experience in children’s work is most desirable with emphasis on HNI ancillary relief and initial family break-up, financial solutions. Membership of “Resolution” or involvement in/with collaborative law will be viewed as a positive aspect. Past/present involvement with mediation; managing/arranging/chairing mediation including communication and giving fair advice between the parties.

Administration and preparation of all details for court hearings for divorce, civil partnership and dissolution, article 8 checks, child abduction, domestic violence, non-molestation orders, injunctions, co-habituation disputes, financial provisions for initial family unit break-up, inheritance disputes, co-habitation disputes, domestic violence injunctions, co-habitation injunctions, keeping an open door policy to all other members of the firm and it’s partners regarding family work knowledge.

Additionally, general partnership prospects are available after six-twelve months for the right candidate.

Insolvency Lawyer

£50 to 70K - "Partner or Training Option!"

Two positions are available, one within a small-medium law practice group, offering superb equity-partner prospects. The other in a major local law firm offering managerial prospects within a medium sized business team.

This firm will also consider training promising candidates - 2 years plus PQE; "any discipline will be considered for this training role".

For the future partner role a background in contentious work involving a high degree of experience in insolvency work. Experience is also desired in non-contentious insolvency commercial work, residential and commercial property transactions and CDDA 1986.

40-250K: We currently have two clients that seek a very senior company and commercial law practitioner. In both cases our clients would consider a partner from another law firm based either in Cornwall or from an outside county.

The fee earning work would include a mixture of M@A, MBO, MBI related transactional work, shareholder agreements, corporate finance, agency & distribution, franchise work, terms of trade, commercial property, joint ventures, setting up of unincorporated businesses, employment issues, agency and distribution work, advice on new business structures, drafting complicated non standard contracts and partnership law.
