We have been appointed to find a very experienced Private Client Lawyer.  

Our client is a very successful law firm, with offices based throughout the West Country.  This position may lead to the possible opportunity to make partner, within a fixed time frame. 

Ideally we seek a lawyer with significant experience operating and mid-senior career level. Solid experience is required working for a law firm with a significant Private Client team.  Must be a team player, who is client friendly, proactive and hard working. 

Accomplished at planning strategy programmes for business development.  Sound experience and knowledge of Will drafting and inheritance tax planning, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney, court protection and deputyship applications, issues affecting the elderly and trust law administration.

Specialisims: - IHT, CGT and other personal tax planning.  Lifetime settlements, Trust Law and administration including for disabled beneficiaries / personal injury compensation trusts and NHS continuing care claims.

Memberships: - STEP, Probate Section of the Law Society and Solicitors for the Elderly

The successful candidate will join a team that covers Cornwall, Somerset and Devon. There could be a definite opportunity for career progression to partner level, if required.

The client an established Cornish law firm seeks to find both of the above professionals. The positions involve:

– Meeting with clients to discuss all aspects of the case or family legal action they are pursuing. Advising clients on all legal options available with regard of the case.

- Ensuring that the client understands which options are in their best interest.

- Mediating and negotiating with other lawyers, to resolve issues with regards to the pending legal case. Preparation and overseeing legal proceeding.

- Filing court documents and completing paperwork as it pertains to the case. Attending court proceedings to represent clients on legal issues.

- Networking with other lawyers and legal executives to expand customer base.

Ideally candidates will or could have both onshore and offshore experience.

Work experience should include some of the following: Tax planning, capital gains tax, income tax, trust estate planning, nil rate band planning and all loan arrangements, lasting powers of attorney, power of attorney issues, trust and IHT planning, migration, deeds of variation, EPA’s, receivership issues, administration of estates – “taxable and non taxable”. Setting up of wills and advising, contesting of unfair wills, care for the elderly, avoiding home care fees, local authority funding. Membership of STEP fantastic but not essential.
