Barrister – Civil, Commercial and Sports
We currently have a job vacancy for a barrister in civil, commercial business and sports at a law firm in Bristol and Exeter, Devon – £40 to 80k.
Our client, an expanding law firm, are seeking to appoint a Barrister to work from both Exeter and Bristol offices. The ideal candidate will have a thorough technical understanding of ADR in both a civil and commercial sense. Be able to advise both in-house to lawyers, externally to commercial clients, individuals and possibly become involved in the sporting arena – Football.
Must have good advocacy experience involving a wide-range of both commercial and civil work issues. Additionally have an interest in moving into the world of advising sporting clients, including footballer’s athletes and their management structure. Experience in some personal injury and medical negligence work could prove useful, but is not essential.
The role will involve – Understanding and interpreting the law and its complexities, mastering and managing both legal briefs & cases. Researching relevant required points of law, possibly working and advising regarding sporting employment and commercial product endorsement contracts. Advising sports management on issues; property and business premises contracts. Writing opinions and articles for journals, magazines and newspapers. Advising in-house lawyers, external clients and other professionals regarding very confidential legal activities. Preparing cases for court, holding and chairing client conferences, preparing difficult legal arguments. Presenting these arguments for court, examining and cross-examining witnesses. Advising on matters of law and evidence, drafting legal documents, negotiating settlements, planning more complex commercial advocacy for court hearings, client mediation. Be confident to offer a sophisticated advisory function on a broad range of commercial, civil and possible sporting management issues.
