In House Property Lawyer

We have a job vacancy for an In-House Property Lawyer – Non Contentious – Eco Energy Company – Cornwall.

Our client is part of an international group, with Eco businesses established throughout Europe. They have just started a new technology operation in Cornwall and have retained our recruitment firm to assist in finding and appointing an In-house-lawyer.

Ideally you should have a broad mix of commercial property work. You may also have some real estate development experience, in this category we will be looking at your exposure to planning and construction law. Work experience in residential /commercial conveyancing, leases, joint ventures, terms of usage, landlord & tenant, infrastructure agreements and section 106 obligations would also be really interesting for our client.

We are open-minded to levels of post qualified experience. Additionally, we are seeking a legal professional who would also be interested in checking and amending commercial trading contracts and maybe in time – employment contracts too.

In the not to distant future you may want to become involved with the company secretarial function, trading standards obligations, health and safety issues plus other corporate regulatory matters.

You will also be a senior member of the management team. Involved with special projects, trouble shooting, HR issues, finally some general company and commercial work.

This is a position that is going to offer variety and scope. We have a feeling that in time, this firm will expand out into Devon, possibly beyond too.

Crime Lawyer – Duty Accreditation – HCA

We currently have a job vacancy for a Crime Lawyer – Duty Accreditation – Higher Courts Advocate (HCA)
£40-70K “Partner Designate within twelve months”.

Our client seeks to appoint a crime lawyer, HCA with police station duty accreditation. Experience gained in both crown and magistrate’s courts would be excellent too. A successful track record regarding court advocacy and case defence would also be highly desirable.

The job involves providing the best possible representation for the client in the court of law. When working on a case our chosen candidate/crime lawyer must ensure that the defendant’s constitutional rights are protected. A precise explanation of what charges the defendant has been accused of must be made clear. Our criminal defence lawyer must prepare the defendants case by gathering all possible information. Including all evidence, key witnesses, general witnesses and all legal circumstances to the supposed crime, incident or accident.

Whilst the court is in session, you will be responsible for examining and cross-examining witnesses as well as summarising to the jury. You must show sympathy to the accused and instruct the accused on how to conduct themselves during court. How to cope with the pressures, how to act whilst under interrogation and also what possible outcomes to expect when the case has come to conclusion. Preparation of the defendant for sentencing as well as probation or parole will also come into account and is an integral part of the job. Experience in negotiating with he prosecutors to reduce or drop certain charges are certainly important too.

Our client has an interest in building a technical law costs advocacy team. We are seeking on a nationwide basis a team leader/Associate to initiate the department, build the team and incorporate a law costs training programme.

Not forgetting day to day costs work, marketing and selling the service to other law firms, corporates, private clients and government agencies.

The job will involve – Acting for defendants, in high value, complex civil litigation costs matters. Additionally, PI injury costs including RTA’s, public liability, occupational disease and employment case costs.

Work will be for defendant panel solicitors, our law firm client’s in-house legal team, government agency departments, insurance firms, agricultural, manufacturing, sports and service industry private clients.

Technical work experience desired will be – Evaluation of bills of costs, submitted by claimant solicitors, prepare written advice to clients regarding bills, construction of formal pleadings for Detailed Assessment proceedings. Negotiation with claimants, representatives, where agreement problems exist.

Represent defendants at court, raise technical challenges, including challenges to retainers, CFA’s and ATE policies.

Good advocacy experience representing clients in County Courts, High Courts and the Supreme Court Costs Office is very advantageous and highly desired by our client.

Additionally you will be marketing and networking a costs advocacy service to other law firms, their lawyers and corporate clients.

Our client, an expanding law firm, are seeking to appoint a Barrister to work from both Exeter and Bristol offices. The ideal candidate will have a thorough technical understanding of ADR in both a civil and commercial sense. Be able to advise both in-house to lawyers, externally to commercial clients, individuals and possibly become involved in the sporting arena – Football.

Must have good advocacy experience involving a wide-range of both commercial and civil work issues. Additionally have an interest in moving into the world of advising sporting clients, including footballer’s athletes and their management structure.
