Hotel Financial Controller

We are recruiting for a financial controller job vacancy at a large hotel in Cornwall - Salary up to £60k.

We currently seek an accountant “part or fully qualified”, with knowledgeable in-depth experience of the larger type of hotel business.

- The ideal candidate should be highly focused and organised with exemplary communication skills.
- Must have a thorough understanding of balance sheets vs. income statement (P&L) accounting.
- Practical experience of reconciliation receivables, liabilities and fixed asset accounts.
- Administer intricate and in-depth management accounts – monthly, quarterly and annually.
- P/L accounting for various businesses based inside the core hotel business.
- Initiate and set all internal accounting and business controls, accounts analysis and make recommendations for maximising profits and cash-flow.
- Income, expense, asset, forecasting & budget controls for future new business plans and associated economic strategies.
- Ensure and check all current accounting systems are in place and work accurately. Record all core revenue and expenditure figures.
- Scrutinise, evaluate, re-negotiate and carefully manage contracts with all outside suppliers.
- Compare costing programmes of other outside suppliers with currently chosen suppliers.

Must haves:

- Experience in managing a small highly focused financial accounting team.
- Possess good general personal organisational skills, able to handle multiple demands simultaneously, thrive in a fast paced and deadline-orientated environment.
- A professional who has highly competent analytical skills, advanced “excel knowledge & sage line 50 experience”.
- The ability to succeed in a growing and challenging environment and have a can do attitude.

Assist with the training of customer clients on the use of software systems and the implementation of new accounting systems.

Technical accountancy experience also required is as follows: Preparation of year end accounts for small to medium sized clients and the completion of personal tax and business tax computations. Ability to work closely with clients in the running of their businesses finance. VAT issues, management accounts, budgeting and budgetary control.
