  • This role will be working with and reporting to a Senior Partner.
  • To undertake a full and mixed caseload of (i) commercial litigation and (ii) intellectual property disputes.
  • To undertake a range of intellectual property disputes for an existing client base with supervision and assistance from others in the team but with day to day responsibility for those disputes.
  • To assist the team at the appropriate level with larger on-going intellectual property disputes.
  • To assist with the operation of the firm’s retainer arrangements assisting retail clients in resolving consumer complaints.

To assist the firm’s commercial litigation department with its mixed practice, including one or more of (but not necessarily all of) contractual disputes, shareholder or partnership disputes and professional negligence disputes.

To be a role model for our client’s values and encourage the others to do the same

We are seeking to find:

The role is a mixed role, and the ideal candidate will have proven technical knowledge of, and a track record of experience in:

  • A broad range of Intellectual Property law and disputes, including copyright, design rights, trade marks, domain name disputes, issues relating to advertising, data protection, etc; and one or more of:
  • Consumer law including the Sale of Goods Act 1979;
  • Contract law and contractual disputes;
  • Company law, shareholder and partnership disputes; and professional negligence.

Proven knowledge and expertise in these areas will assist any application. Similarly, knowledge of and experience of the following areas will be viewed as a bonus (although not a pre-requisite of suitability for the role):

  • Patent law and patent disputes;
  • insurance law and practice.

Because of the mixed nature of the role, and the likelihood that candidates will not have had exposure to all of the above areas of law, particular importance will be placed on the candidate demonstrating a detailed understanding of civil procedure, practice and strategy and a proven track record of running, and taking day to day responsibility for, commercial litigation matters.

  • Experience of some business development and marketing activities and increasing a firm’s client base.
  • A highly flexible approach and the capability to work well and flourish within a team environment.
  • Excellent all round communication skills including the capability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other colleagues internally, both within the wider team and across all practice areas.
  • Proven commitment to working within a quality standard environment.
  • Commitment to on-going professional and personal development including self-awareness and self-reflection and continuous improvement.
  • A track record of consistently delivering to targets and objectives.
  • An understanding of the importance of knowledge management and sharing.
  • Previous experience of working with a CRM system would be an advantage.
