Senior Applications Analyst.
The purpose of this role is to administer and enhance the core business applications of the Group, and to configure and develop solutions as required by our clients. The successful applicant will design, develop and implement key initiatives and projects within our law firm client to support the overall Technology and Business Strategy. This includes implementing and upgrading application components within the business application portfolio, oversight of group project governance, liaising with the business on problems and opportunities.

 
Principal duties will include:
• Being the technical lead on projects for conversion, implementation, maintenance and development of new & existing applications and business solutions
• Following priorities set by management, in line with the IT Strategy and Project Prioritisation
• Developing expert knowledge in a number of specific business critical application systems
• Acting as product manager for the assigned application portfolio
• Contributing to the application strategy for the firm
• Developing solutions which re-configure systems to ensure they align with business processes, tactical planning, and strategic vision
• Keeping current with the latest application technologies
• Troubleshooting IT related problems from in-house software escalated to the Applications Team
• Developing data management routines such as imports / reconciliations / report production
• Escalating unresolvable issues to the 3rd party suppliers support teams
• Holding responsibility for managing successful relationships with some 3rd party application suppliers
• Taking ownership of user problems and follow up the on status of problems on behalf of the user and communicate progress in a timely manner
• Establishing, develop and maintain effective relationships with assigned business contacts
• Demonstrating an excellent standard of customer service at all times, and to act as an ambassador for the Technology department in all dealings with customers
• Adhering to all IT Governance processes such as incident management, change management etc.
• Maintaining general IT documentation including creating knowledge base articles and procedure documents, FAQ’s, self-help guides.
• Undertaking the project manager role on some initiatives, and hold responsibility for managing some changes independently from inception to delivery
• Managing client expectations and ensure that change is proactively managed to completion at the earliest opportunity
• Attending business meetings as required
• Undertaking a business analysis role on some initiatives, sourcing requirements from users to build into solutions & system configurations
• Being aware of cybersecurity risks that exist and escalate any events or concerns that are encountered. Responsibility for carrying out all tasks in a secure manner i.e. keeping security in mind
• Encouraging staff awareness of cybersecurity risks and of best practise guidelines
• Ensuring security and privacy best practices, policies and procedures are considered as part of all IT changes
• Escalating any issues to the IT Management Team as soon as possible, and recommend potential solutions
• Consulting and include others in making decisions where appropriate
• Providing assistance to other members of Technology team
• Mentoring and providing support and guidance to those within the team
• Identifying and recommending process improvements, efficiency gains and cost savings to the team
• Ensuring that all IT expenditure is authorised, and that the procurement process is followed at all times
• Working as efficiently and effectively as possible to ensure levels of IT change in the organisation are maximised
• Producing work to a high standard whilst demonstrating excellent standards of professionalism and integrity in all interactions
The ideal candidate will hold a relevant IT or Project Management qualification or will be prepared to study towards one and will have:
• Previous experience providing a senior or lead role in a Development or Application Support team
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
• Ability to apply IT in solving business problems
• Experience of working within an IT change control & release management environment
• Strong SQL development and product skills gained over a number of years’ experience
• A prominent level of education is preferred
