We are currently looking to find three applicants for our client: A trainee chartered accountant ACA, a trainee accountancy practice technician AAT, finally a trainee tax advisor CTA.

As a trainee working at our client’s chartered practice you will be supported by their dedicated team who will monitor your progress throughout your studies. You may already be involved with studies, be rest assured our client will definitely support your professional learning programme.  At your new office you will work alongside the team and embark on an in-house internally developed training programme that will help you prepare for your professional examinations.

Gaining a variety of experiences in a range of business environments is of vital importance, and our client will provide you with this through on-the-job training. You will work as part of the team, taking into account that one day you will be manager of a team with all of the responsibilities of a professional business leader.

The variety of our client’s accountancy practice client base means that you will receive comprehensive exposure to all aspects and types of local business, and the financial accountancy services that they require. You could deal with a sole trader private client on one day and an entertainment business the next.  Our client’s chartered practice can be described as medium sized, they are involved with all aspects of the accountancy business,  including management consultancy, corporate finance and complex tax planning work.

Key areas of your responsibility:

Undertaking both practical and theoretical training with an aim to becoming a chartered accountant, accountancy technician or tax advisor.  This position involves a number of different aspects including:

  • Preparing financial statements for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders;
  • Assisting with Auditing financial statements;
  • Tax compliance work (including preparation of tax computations; tax returns and computation of liabilities).

Assignments will be undertaken both in the office and at client’s premises and will be a mixture of team work and projects undertaken individually. Trainees will have support and on the job training from both managers and partners.

During your training you will be expected to develop an understanding of the practical issues involved in delivering a high quality service to clients.

  • There are four entry/intermediate levels for candidates joining our client’s firm of chartered accountants. The first is when the trainee will study for the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) exam.  There will be discussions, usually in advance, whether you will progress to training for the ATT or CTA qualification. In this instance we are seeking candidates with at least six months experience in chartered accountancy practice work;
  • The second is for a part-qualified ACA-ACCA who wished to progress further, in this case we are seeking at least twelve months experience working in chartered practice;
  • Thirdly we are seeking a graduate with a business or math’s degree, having attained a 1st class classification;
  • There are also training contracts for staff who are specialising in tax. You will have ACA – ACCA or the Association of Taxation Technicians ATT papers.  You will then want to progress to study for the Chartered Tax Adviser qualification CTA.

Our client, fully appreciates the commitment that is made by trainees. They support them as much as possible with paid tuition fees and in-house coaching if the need arises.  Our client also assists with on the job training and as much additional support as the trainee requires.  You must understand that there is a large amount of additional studying that is required, especially for the ICAEW exams.

Working as a trainee you are trained on the job and will be able to prepare a full set of accounts for a client within a short period of time.
